Debug over virtualUSB The debug-device-over-vusb skill connects a private Kobiton device to your computer over virtualUSB, then works through a debugging request you describe in plain language. The skill calls the virtualUSB CLI directly. It requires automate plugin version 1.13.0 or later. Requirements An organization subscription that includes virtualUSB. A private device on a host machine with virtualUSB enabled. Public devices are not supported. To check or enable virtualUSB on a host machine, see Device Management page. The credentials file written by /automate:setup. The skill signs in to the virtualUSB client with these credentials, so your API key does not appear in the conversation. macOS or Windows. Linux is not supported. virtualUSB client setup Each plugin version pins one virtualUSB client version. Before connecting, the skill checks the client on your computer against that version. macOS Downloads the pinned client, verifies its checksum, and runs it from a local cache. If virtualUSB is already installed at the pinned version, the skill uses it. If a different version is already installed, the skill stops and reports it instead of installing a second copy. Windows Downloads the pinned installer and verifies its checksum, then hands it to you to install. Installing the virtualUSB client on Windows requires a privileged step that the skill does not perform. Run the skill again after setup completes. Linux Not supported. The skill stops and explains the limitation. The skill does not perform steps that need administrator approval. On macOS, the first vusb connect, and the first connect after each client version change, displays a prompt to install the virtualUSB daemon. Approve the prompt on the computer itself. The prompt does not appear in an SSH session. See virtualUSB CLI commands. Debugging flow The skill finds online private devices that are ready for virtualUSB. When more than one device matches, the skill asks you to confirm the device. The skill checks the device and platform against known virtualUSB limitations before connecting. If a limitation applies, the skill explains it and does not connect. The skill signs in to virtualUSB with your plugin credentials, connects the device, and confirms the connection with vusb status and adb devices or the Xcode device list. The skill installs your build, reproduces the problem you described, captures device logs, such as adb logcat output, and reports the results in plain language. The skill disconnects the device with vusb disconnect, including when an earlier step fails, and confirms the device is back online. The skill does not call reserveDevice or terminateReservation. Limitations The skill stops before connecting when any of these apply: iOS 17.0 through 17.3. An iOS device on Windows. Linux. A public device. A Kobiton CLI session already running on the device. A request that needs adb reverse. For more virtualUSB considerations, see Start debugging. Troubleshooting The skill returns a plain-language message and a next step for these failures: Not signed in to virtualUSB. virtualUSB is not included in the organization subscription. A VPN or proxy blocks the connection to the host machine. Another user holds the device. The installed virtualUSB client version is incompatible. An iOS device was requested on Windows.
