Start a virtual session Start a manual test session on a virtual device in Kobiton Portal. The session behaves the same as a session on a real device, including the device controls. Prerequisites Virtual devices must be enabled by your organization’s admin before you can start a session. If the virtual devices tab does not appear in the device list, contact your admin. To enable virtual devices, your admin sets up the following: A dedicated server for virtual devices — a separate Linux server with at least 32 GB of RAM, in addition to your existing device host. One server supports up to three virtual devices; each additional device needs about 9 GB more RAM. Up-to-date host software — the device host running a supported version of deviceConnect, plus the Kobiton Executor software and Android system image, which your admin obtains from Kobiton support. Network access between the servers — the device host and the virtual-device server must be able to reach each other, and, for Cloud and Hybrid deployments, reach Kobiton’s cloud services. Virtual devices are available for Cloud and Hybrid deployments only. They are not yet supported on Standalone (On-Prem) deployments. Contact Kobiton support for the full setup instructions. Start the session Sign in to Kobiton Portal. In the device list, select the virtual devices tab. Find a virtual device, then select Launch to start the session. Find a virtual session in the session list After the session ends, search for is:virtual on the Sessions page to filter the list to virtual-device sessions.
